Mrs. Crumley was able to discuss with Representative Forgety where she thought she would be t this point in her life, which did not include confinement to a wheelchair. She told him she was ‘found’ by accident from someone who was providing Waiver services to someone else and called an agency to evaluate her. She told Representative Forgety that she is able to stay at home with her husband because she receives services that support her homemaker and personal care needs. Without these services, she would have to live in a nursing home. The CHOICES program not only provides homemaker and personal care for her, but also funded her wheelchair ramp and shower modifications. She shared that one really does not think about how hard it is to stand and cook or reach for an item on a shelf until you can’t anymore. Representative Forgety is a Republican serving District 23 – McMinn and part of Monroe Counties; Tellico Plains, Rural Vale, Coker Creek.
